Returning JET Reception

Attention JET Program Alumni!

The Consulate-General of Japan at Houston will be holding a luncheon to honor the recently returned members of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, alumni, and supporters and we want you there. Please join us at the official residence of newly arrived Consul-General Jota Yamamoto and Mrs. Yamamoto on Saturday, December 10th from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM as we welcome our newest alumni members while celebrating the JET Program’s 25 years.

Joining our celebration will be 14 Japanese English teachers, part of the Japan-United States Training Exchange (JUSTE) Program. These teachers are studying English teaching methods in Austin as part of a 6-month training course to better their English skills before returning to Junior High Schools all across Japan.

Come join us as we reminisce about our past experiences on the JET Program, help us to welcome our newest class of Alumni and cheer on the next generation of the Japanese Teachers of English. We hope to see you there.

Help the International Girl Scout Leaders on November 11th

Hey Houston JETAA members … JET Alum Paul Cummings works with a State Department public diplomacy program, and will welcome a big group of International Girl Scout Leaders to Houston at the end of the week. On Friday, November 11th, the group will split into smaller groups to have dinner with local volunteers, and unfortunately 3-4 people still do not have a dinner host. There is no home stay element, nothing fancy, just an opportunity to have dinner at someone’s home and make new friends from distant lands. If you’d like more information, please contact Paul at 832-369-3470 or by e-mail at pcummings@iie.org. Thanks!
